Digital Dossier

This weeks Ty  challenge was to watch a video on our 'digital dossier' or digital footprint. I didn't know what all this ment until i watched this video.

The video was extremely interesting and well worth a look. I learned that even before you are born you're written about talked about on social media sites, you're digital dossier is beginning to build up. It only gets bigger and bigger as you grow older. It makes you think about how big your digital footprint is.

These are examples of the social media sites i use:

Facebook- to keep in contact with friends/ family, upload pictures etc.
Snapchat- for images
Instagram- upload pictures
We heart it- find images you like
Twitter- my thoughts and feelings
Google- to search for things i am interested in
Youtube- to listen to songs or how to do things

I was really surprised i learned so much from this video. Its really fascinating how social media has affected our lifes, before we are born and after we die.

Work Experience

This week we went on our first Work Experience. i went to with with my dads friends company 'Healthcomms'. I was extremely nervous when i arrived at settled down soon enough. I was shown my desk and was introduced to other members of staff- Deidre and Hanand. They were both really nice and welcoming.

My task was to proof read over three user guides on how to use the 'Healthcomms' application. The first one was how to us the app on a phone. I had to download the app on to my phone and follow the instructions on my phone. I also found some mistakes grammar wise and had to take note of them. I then had to do the same on the tablet version of the app, and follow it on a tablet. Deidre left i was left with Hanand because Tom had left to go to a meeting in town with Enterprise Ireland. I couldn't really understand Hanand because of his strong Indian accent so i had to ask him to repeat what he was saying to me more than twice- very embarrassing.

I went for lunch at around 1;30 i went into base which is beside my workplace and had lunch there for a half hour. I went back to work and got stuck in straight away. My work hours are from 9 to 5. I finished proof reading my last guide and i was allowed go home early that was great. After my first time working in an office i don't think i could be able to work in an office full time. I would much prefer to be doing something active.

I'm looking forward to next week and see what new tasks i will be assigned.

Carlingford day 2

We were woken up at 7 o clock, so early.. to make it even better they blared out one direction. Everyone i who was sharing a room with were not morning people:))) (shout out to Chloe Kairua xx) we went down to breakfast then went on our first activity. Our first activity was Canadian Canoeing  the wet suits were as horrible as last time. We set out on our canoes and had a great time. we even got to go on the trampoline in the middle of the lake. Hannah and I jumped in at the same time. The water was freezing. Really glad i did it though. We went into the 'magical cave' and got splashed with freezing cold water, legend is if you stand under it for 10 seconds you earn an extra day on to your life. I think i would of rather'd die a day early than do that!.. we went back to the beach and dried ourselves off and went back for lunch.

For lunch we had sausage rolls and chips, it was alright i guess. We then got ready for our challenges. the walk took foreverrrrr. It was longer than the laser tag but it wasn't as steep. The challenges were all about team bonding. Some were fun and others were just terrible, didn't enjoy this half as much as i enjoyed the laser tag. we walked back to the adventure center and had to get our bags and we headed for the bus. I had such a great time in Carlingford i would go back in a heart beat.

Carlingford day 1

On Monday the 15th at 7 o clock in the morning we left for Carlingford. I set my alarm for 6 o clock Monday morning. It was extremely hard getting up but it was worth it when we got there.

The bus journey there was 2 hours. When we got there we had to walk to the adventure center. We were told all the rules and where we would be sleeping. we were also told what activities we were doing. I was in group B so we had kayaking in the morning and laser tag in the afternoon.

We all dumped our bags in our rooms, we got our wet gear ready and we headed off towards the lake. we were greeted buy our instructors Dave, Teddy, Peaches and Edel. we were handed our wet suits and told to go into the changing rooms.( A bit of advice for the Tys going next year, wear your swimwear under your clothes, makes life a lot easier.) the wet suits were damp when we put them on, not the best feeling in the world i can tell you that. after we all changed into our wet suits we headed straight to the lake. To warm up we played games like Kings Queens Knights, that was great apart from the fact we played it on stones. We then set sail in our kayaks.

kayaking looks a lot easier then it actually is... luckily i was paired with Ella who had kayaked before. We kayaked towards another beach on the other side of the lake. We got off our Kayaks and played more games on a very stony beach. We then kayaked back. I have never been so happy to take off a piece of clothing in my life.. And it wasn't easy..

We all made it back to the hostel in one piece which was bonus. We had our lunch, In my opinion the food wasn't even bad! We went back to our room and had some more food... On Sunday we spent €70 on food.. crazy I know..  We then prepared ourselves for Laser tag.

Firstly we got all geared out in our army gear, which was really fun. then we got handed our guns, they were heavier then i expected. we were ready to go up the mountain. At the start the walk was going great then it went all uphill... literally. The walk was a long 15 - 20 minutes up a steep hill, not fun:))) It was worth it. Laser tag was my favourite activity by far! I was on the blue team GOO BLUE TEAM, btw we won:))) Our team was the best, winning most of the team battles. All the running around really did wear you out. WE headed back after about 7 rounds were played. The way back was a lot more enjoyable than the way up. Martin one of our instructors told us all of his inspirational quotes like "you only miss the 100 shots you didn't take."

Dinner time couldn't of come sooner enough i was starving! I thought the dinner was great but loads of other girls didn't like it. we then headed back to our rooms to eat more rubbish. We were then called for our night time activity, "night line". we went up the mountain again to the laser tag field. Our instructor Keith was the funniest, all he did was sing 'all about the base' He was my favorite by far. We were all blindfolded, we had to hold a rope and make our way around the laser tag field blindfolded! it was great fun!

We went back and we all got into our PJs! we then headed up to the 'disco' another school was up there and they were playing music, everyone was dancing it was a great atmosphere. We did that for a couple of hours. then we went back to the room and just chilled for a while it was great. At around  half 12 i was starting to fall asleep which i did! but then got woken up by anna throwing a pillow at eve... Then everyone thought eve was going to die... eventful to say the least.. anyway i didn't end up falling asleep until 3 in the morning, I was not a happy girl:)))
